Project: Curtis Residence

 | Power Package The Power Package system with battery modules is located in the back of the garage as noted. The system includes 5kw of AC Outback GTFX-2524 (2) power inverters, an MX-60 controller and 1200 amp-hours of AGM battery capacity.

Power panels The local electrician (Trinity Electric) simply added an additional AC panel next to the original panel and transfered all priority loads to this panel (fridge, lights, heating) so that when power is out, the power is instantly connected to the Power Package system. When power is available, all power generated by the solar panels is diverted to the house load or selling back power to the utility

 | Reduced array size With the PP-Ultra power system utilizing battery storage and Outback POwer System components, a roof full of solar panels is not required to offset the house load or provide meaningfull utility billing reduction due to the significant effect of energy storage. Using AGM battery storage, a 2kw array can provide the same effect as a much larger (3-6kw) array using non-battery based technology for the same overall price, plus the benefit of backup power.
